The Night of Hope, an event initiated by the Nokuri Foundation in 2018 and relaunched in 2024, celebrates Cameroonian-African-American culture through music performed by the Night of Hope Big Band led by award-winning composer Bakhari S. Nokuri. The event highlights the foundation’s core values—health, art, and service—by awarding three grants: The Hope Award, The Pamela B. Duke Grant, and The Military Award.

 

Guests are welcomed into a vibrant lobby filled with booths showcasing Maryland-based businesses, organizations, art, and food. The main program takes place in the auditorium, where the Night of Hope Big Band kicks off the evening. A highlight of the event is a "fireside chat" featuring Dr. Samuel Nokuri in conversation with notable guests. Additionally, organizations selected for donations are recognized and presented with their awards.
